Recently Living Equine had a blog called ‘Horse Float Health Check’, so it would be a natural progression to now focus on the living quarters of horse trucks and goosenecks. There are many of us equestrians now back out competing again, and/or looking to in the near future. Some of these competitions require somewhere to sleep and hangout between classes/ tests/ disciplines. That’s where adding homely touches to this area, can create a space that feels more like home, than a sweaty box on the road.
Cushions & Throws
One of the most used items in a chill out space; particularly in winter. Cushions and throws can feature horses, or images associated with them, or just be of earthy or warm colours, to be less typcially horsey. Horseland currently have an amazing range of cushions and throws available, featuring bits and beautiful navy colours. Perhaps go visit your local Horseland to check them out.
Candles
This is a very subjective addition, because some people are not candle people. However, there are Equestrian designed candles on the market, that can be a quirky and fragrant addition to a horse truck or gooseneck living area. Both Arch & Alex and Grey Horse are great brands of candles to start with. The Arch & Alex ones have funny titles, and equestrianesque phrases, and the Grey Horse ones are a more subtle in their appearance, but smell amazing.
Hanging Systems
Sometimes long stints on the road can see us missing home, and our loved ones. Hanging Systems like the Arti Teq Range available from Framed In Mudgee, can make it possible to display photos and keepsakes, to keep your loved ones close. Horse Truck and Gooseneck walls can be tricky to secure small intricate items to when they are constantly on the move, but Hanging Systems like the Arti Teq brand, make it possible to secure these items in place. Ribbons and sashes won at competitions can also be added to these displays.
Doormats
To prevent the awful grit of the day ending up in the bed sheets, and all through the living quarters, a door mat at the entrance can be a smart choice. Feet can be wiped in a designated area, and they can feature beautiful designs that reflect the owner’s personality. The Painting Pony or Saddleworld from time to time, have doormats available to add to your truck or float.
Comforter Set
These can be a great way to dress your bed away from home for value, and ooze home! Much like cushions and throws, these can be horse covered, or be of earthy or warm colours, depending on the occupier’s preference. Comforter Sets usually come with a covered doona and at least 2 pillow cases that match the doona design. A sheet set and pillows will have to be purchased to accompany these, in a complimentary colour, but still a cost effective way to deck out any bed. Target and Kmart currently have a good range to cover basic needs, with a touch of luxury.
Obviously there are other ways to home up your travelling living areas, but these are just a few suggestions. Loose items are usually secured prior to travel, and then brought back out when stationary. No matter what items you use to make your space yours, don’t feel pressured to adhere to the status quo of how it should look. Trust your gut, and use things that you know you’ll appreciate in your chill out time.
